Our Motorcycle blogs
When we speak about ultimate coastal rides, one of true jewels that is still not explored enough is Croatia and Adriatic. Our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours are truly amazing guided motorcycle tours and very popular between our client riders that’s why we are continuously adding different varieties of these tours. Besides long Adriatic coastal guided motorcycle tour of 12 days, we offer as well 2 shorter variants of these tours, one that includes Adriatic coast and Northern Adriatic Islands and another one that is covering the Adriatic south including Dubrovnik area and Montenegro. Some other new tours are in our “pipeline” and will be added to the offer as exciting additional guided motorcycle tours with thrilling options of accommodations and way of travel.
Adriatic guided motorcycle tours usually depart from Zagreb, Croatia (depending on the group preferences there is an option in case of groups of 4 plus motorcycles to depart from Dubrovnik; in that case we roll vice versa, the route is basically the same). The roads are excellent and perfect for a great riding experience, in Croatia the local roads are perfect with not too much traffic (the excellent highways took the majority of cars), the scenery varies from truly enjoyable to breath taking and this is one of the reasons why our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours are popular.
However, even though we are all bikers and enjoy the excellent ride and riding experience, we can't avoid to mention all the joys that come along our main passion of riding a motorcycle in some of our guided motorcycle tours. Croatia and Adriatic sea and coast has indeed a lot to offer in different aspects. Excellent gastronomy and wine regions of northern Adriatic areas of Istria makes you judge whether to stay in some charming ancient town on the top of some hill in Istria (there is quite a few gorgeous historic towns like Motovun, Grožnjan, Buzet, Oprtalj etc so much worth visiting. Eh, yes the names are not easy to pronounce but experiencing the beauty of them will make you forget the names anyway as the experience will completely take over all your senses no matter if we speak about local food, wines, accommodation in this amazingly beautiful area or roads and sceneries of our guided motorcycle tours of Adriatic.
Istria is often called a little Tuscany. This beautiful northern Adriatic region is full of green hills and small historic and authentic towns usually positioned on top of the hills. Stone buildings, walls and ancient stone brick roads make you feel you came back to medieval past. It is as well a serious wine region with dozens of great wine producers and their wineries where they happily welcome all the wine lovers with great food and wines to taste. Istria offers a true gastronomic experience that will enhance your palate. It is as well famous for truffles (both black and white) that are being searched in the forests (even truffle hunting tours with search dogs are organized there), prosciutto, veal meat of local Istrian cattle called Boškarin. We make sure to offer you many of those experiences as a part of our guided motorcycle tours.
There are also many possibilities for active vacation (cycling, kayaking, sailing) as the coast is beautiful and very close to inlands (15-20 miles from the central Istria). So it is perfect for any kind of active vacation. Gastronomic offer in Istria will delight your palate! It's inspired by the sea, Istrian peninsula's tradition, and modern approach to gastronomy, and all important information about the gastronomical offer can be found in Istra gourmet guide. Truffles, Istrian Malvasia and Teran, olive oil, traditional pasta - fuži and pljukanci are just some of the ingredients without which you can't imagine an Istrian gourmet experience. We make sure to combine all of that in our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours.
After exploring and enjoying the roads, sea and coast, wines and food of beautiful green Istrian peninsula, our guided motorcycle tours will be heading to the Islands of Cres, Mali and Veli Lošinj and Krk. The short and nice ferry ride takes us and our motorcycles to the Island of Cres. Cres is a truly calm north Adriatic Island, the inhabitants often say their moto “no stress on Cres”, famous for the rare population Griffon vultures, there is as well ornithological reserve and rescue centre of these magnificent birds. The scenery and our motorcycle ride of Cres is truly amazing. The roads are excellent and we always tend to combine it with one more gastro experience Cres is widely famous for – lamb. They prepare it in many ways and it’s a must to taste it, there are few great authentic restaurants.
The curvy road continues along the Cres Island to Lošinj, we go all the way down to beautiful Veli Lošinj (“Big Lošinj” even though its actually smaller then Mali Lošinj).
Lošinj is known for its striking bays and rich vegetation. The main town, Mali Lošinj, is in a large natural harbor. It’s home to the main branch of the Museum of Lošinj, in the Fritzi Palace, with Italian baroque and modern Croatian paintings. The Museum of Apoxyomenos has a 1st- or 2nd-century-B.C. bronze statue of an athlete, recovered from the sea.
On our way back to the shore and the thrilling coastal road our guided motorcycle tours pass again by a ferry to the Island of Krk having again the magnificent ride all the way to the coast (from Cres to Krk there is a ferry and from Krk to the mainland there is a beautiful Krk bridge passing over the sea channel).
Upon reaching the coast and the town of Senj, and its ancient medieval pirate bay, our guided motorcycle tours continue initially to inlands climbing the Velebit mountain to have a refreshment in the marvellous National Park of Plitvice lakes, UNESCO World heritage centre where we usually have one of the rest days and enjoying the lakes boat rides, walks, waterfalls and local cuisine of the area, lamb and pork under bell, trout from amazing Gacka river and valley we visit and many other local specialties. It is always a great rest for body and soul on our guided motorcycle tours.
From Plitvice our guided motorcycle tours are heading back to the coast by taking the Adriatic highway, the best coastal road in this part of Europe, great new asphalt, with a view of the rocks of Velebit on the left, and the vast blue sea on the right. This road is world-known for the curves and thanks to the recently build highway, it is practically left to the bikers and rare adventure travellers. There are shing villages to slow us down for a few minutes, inviting us to take a short break over coffee and clear our thoughts. Adriatic highway, a new national park emerges on our left: Starigrad Paklenica – a steep canyon and a mecca for climbers, through the belly of Dalmatia, an area called Ravni Kotari – a place of ideal climate and fertile land, an area filled with marasca orchards groves and vineyards. You will get a chance to see another pirate bay - Skradin – an amazing location where the mountain river Krka meets the sea (Krka National Park). From the hilly roads of Dalmatian hinterland, we will take a look at the historical city of Šibenik and then rest for the night in the wonderful Mediterranean city of Split.
Heading back down in our guided motorcycle tours to the Adriatic highway, we will bypass the most densely populated area of the central Dalmatia a wonderful curves of the southern part of the Adriatic highway. We will ride all the way to the world-famous tourist destination of Dubrovnik and take a short rest at the biker stop overlooking the city, to enjoy the best view in the world. It is time to enter Konavle – the belly of the entire Dubrovnik area and a narrow belt of wonderful landscapes separating Croatia from Bosnia and stay for the night in the town of Cavtat.
Returning towards Dubrovnik (it must be seen twice!), our guided motorcycle tours will pass the town of Ston and see the largest defence wall after the great wall of China. On the peninsula of Pelješac we will enjoy the miles and miles of a fantastic new road running through another famous wine region of Croatia. Here we will be flooded by the true scent of the Mediterranean and ride through the land of seamen and old captains. A ferry ride will take us to the mainland. On the way back we will leave the Adriatic highway and take the tunnel through the mountain of Biokovo and return to Split where we have a rest day on our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours.
Meet the one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean, with a 4th century Diocletian’s Palace and the city listed by UNESCO on its World Heritage List, Split offers endless layers of history, architecture and urban spirit, which are all intertwined in the vivid city life. You can take a walking tour inside of the Roman palace and visit the churches and cathedrals of the medieval city centre or simply relax somewhere along the most important city’s promenade called Riva and enjoy the liveliness of the typical Mediterranean city by joining the locals in their everyday life. Don’t miss challenging your luck and making your wishes come true by touching grandiose statue of the Gregory of Nin, the work of the great Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Another place that should not be missed is city’s main marketplace called "Pazar", an explosion of colours, odours and flavours of Dalmatia. There are plenty of options to spend the day in Split, ferryboat ride to the Island of Brač to enjoy the beaches, boat tours and sailing tours in the bay or a simple relax and easy time on riva and nice charming streets with local restaurants. We always make sure that you experience the best of the best and experience the local and authentic in our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours.
In case you decide to go further shouth (as one of our guided motorcycle tours goes), you will soon after passing Dubrovnik reach Montenegro border and Herceg Novi, beautiful Kotor Bay with historic Kotor and beautiful town of Perast, you can enjoy the ride around the bay (in summer there could be a lot of traffic) or choose to take the short ferry from Kamenari to Lepetane and then choose either to climb uphill and ride the Lovćen national park, hit further the coastal ride all the way to Albania (that’s another story we will tell you about) or go towards beautiful Skadar lake. We would recommend the ride to inlands in case you do not go further south to Albania and wish to explore Montenegro; towards Lovćen and even Durmitor. Our guided motorcycle tours will reveal you the best of Montenegro in a breath taking ride of the mountains and coast (one of the best mountain – sea views when going down to the coast and Kotor bay from Lovćen). Our Adriatic tour (South Dubrovnik and Montenegro) is amazing combination of the coastal ride, Pelješac peninsula, Kotor bay and Montenegro coast and mountains.
Saying our goodbyes to the Mediterranean, our Adriatic guided motorcycle tours will take another stunning scenic road and ride along the northern mountains of Biokovo and Velebit and head towards the historical city of Knin – one of the oldest cities in Europe, a royal magnificent fortress overlooking the town which was the capital of Croatian kings in the Middle Ages. Our goal for the and stay one more night in the area around Plitvice Lakes.
Saving the best for last, we will be getting further away from the coastal area by riding Karolina – a road which is virtually unknown for regular road traffic and makes a favourite route for short one to two day rides of European bikers.
